Our hearts are drunk with a beauty our eyes could never see
Delilah paused, deeply inhaling the fresh mountain air before she let out a long, loud sigh. She angled her multi colored face, letting the sunlight that streamed in from the tree tops hit her neck. She looked around, to see if any other wolves around. She doubted they would be pleased with her just lying around in the sun, but she really needed some 'her' time. She didnt want to get stressed to the point of wrinkling and looking gross. Constantly keeping an eye out for Ava, finding food, protecting the borders, she did lead an easy life. It wasnt a lot to ask for an hour to herself, in her mind.

The woods weren't her favorite place, but Leaf understood their importance in regards to prey and safety. Not to mention warmth. The mountain itself could be bitterly cold at times, and the cold-weather home was necessary. Still...she preferred higher altitudes and open air. She couldn't even fly in the forest!
But then, not all wolves could fly. She had to keep reminding herself of that fact. The eagle breed alone shared the gift of soaring on the open air, just like changelings alone had such lovely, vibrant pelts. It wasn't right to ask the rest of the pack to live in danger just so she could have a little more comfort.
Besides, this really was one of the better places to find prey.
Or relaxing pack mates, as the case may be.
Leaf giggled as she approached the changeling wolf. "Hey there! Not a bad day, today. I don't think a single wolf's been eaten or anything!"

Delilah left out a sharp exhale, a chuckle cut short. "If a wolf was hungry, they could catch a squirrel," the dainty tri-colored female reasoned. She crossed her delicate front paws, presenting herself a bit more formal to the alphess. "I think a day of rest is of equal fuel to the body as a few snaps of food, there is no point in hunting when all our bellies are full," she decided, a bit selfishly considering she hadnt ever asked another soul in her life if they were hungry. Oh well, it wasnt really her problem.
"If you want to call a hunt though, I'll come," the beautiful female said, remembering this was the alphess who she was talking to.

(Leaf's actually a betess rather than alphess. ^.^ "Perhaps," Leaf replied. "I more meant that we ourselves haven't become prey today. I hope that trend lasts us a while." She shook her head, unwilling to let the sadness from the deaths in her life overcome her. When an Eagle wolf experienced sadness, they experienced it in the severest form. It...wasn't pleasant, and she had been in a good mood all day...she wanted to keep her mood as high as it had been. "And I believe you're right. The herds shouldn't be over-hunted. We wouldn't be able to find prey when we actually needed it if they were. The alpha pair haven't called us together yet for a hunt, so we seem to have the day free." She sat down near the changling wolf. "I do prefer being up in the mountains but I know that we're safer down here this time of year. It gives us a bit of a break from the demon and it's warmer."

Delilah nodded. Living with Ava was most dangerous for Changlings and Eagles, Changlings had more trouble blending in and hiding, and Eagles like to fly about. She saw the females mood waver upon the mention of Ava. Knowing the burden of dealing with a sad Eagle, she was willing to change the topic. But still, she was curious. "Do you believe in the Blood Wall?" she asked. She knew some wolves didnt like to talk about it, but if the Blood Wall existed, why not get rid of the demons?

(No worries. ^.^)
Leaf blinked at the mention of the Blood Wall. "I...I like to think it exists. I can't say for certainty that it does, but I more believe that it exists than that it doesn't, if that makes any sense." She thought for a moment. "I've...well...I've entertained fantasies of figuring out how to seal all the demons behind it. I suppose a lot of wolves have. I wouldn't even know where to begin figuring out how, though." She shivered. "I like to think I'm brave, too, but I'm not sure if I'd be able to bring myself to face Ava directly. I mean, she's so much stronger than us. That's why she can kill us off so easily." She shook her head. "I suppose the short answer is that I do, for the most part. Or at least, I choose to believe. What about you?"

The female shrugged. "Whether or not it exists doesnt even help us. We dont know what Tragg did, and if repeating it would reverse the effects. We dont even know where to look," Delilah thoughtlessly said. "Its not worth looking for," she added. Of course, the colorful female had never lost a loved one to a demon, if she did she might feel otherwise. Given her lazy nature, looking around for a mythical wall didnt sound like a lot of fun, just a lot of work.
She let her colors change, changing to vibrant blues reds and purples. "How does this look?" she asked Leaf, admiring her dainty pink paws.

Leaf frowned, her ears lowering slightly. "It could help us, if we could find it and how to fix things. It is a long shot, but it would be worth looking for, to me. I...we've lost too many of our pack mates as it is, and we're going to continue to lose more..." She looked up at the sky. No sign of the dragon demon, but that didn't mean she wasn't listening. Whether she was or not though, they'd be dead if Ava wanted them dead. For now, they were allowed to continue to live.
Delilah's voice distracted her from her thoughts and she looked at the other she-wolf, blinking. Her colors had changed. "It looks good."
